On the first full day of Gemini season, I decided to update my brand's color palette, which led to updating my website in an effort to better feature my blog posts. But when I was on Pinterest searching for inspiration, the algorithm fed me really cool toddler shorts, so I did a little pivot and opened up approximately 20 tabs of different brands and wondered why boys shorts are so long? Can they not be basically pants please? While all of this was happening I played the new-ish Lady Gaga album from start to finish, singing every single word as I typed and clicked and zoomed around my screen. In fact, it's still blasting as I write these words. That's right, I did another little pivot when I realized my morning was quintessentially Gemini and needed to be documented.
Are you tired yet?
Should I stop?
I have no Gemini in my chart, but I felt this shift. From peaceful Taurus to buzzy Gemini, it's a fairly obvious jolt โ at least in my opinion.
As the sign of continual curiosity, Gemini is meant to maintain a wide open mind. To never stop learning. To take in as much as they can to fill their brains with delight after delight. They come into this world sharp and quick. Adaptable and intellectual. Fresh insight? New conversation? Happy thank you more please.
While my opening paragraph was a little bit over the top, it expresses the simple truth that Gemini can handle larger amounts of information and fast energy. It's their superpower. That said, their nervous systems are not bulletproof and can get easily frazzled. There is so much to see and so much to do and Gemini โ I hope that you experience all of that and more โ but do take care of yourself, too.
SO LETโS MAKE GEMINI VISUAL

When I started this moodboard series nearly one year ago, I remember feeling relieved that I started the month after Gemini season because to me, this particular energy is hard to pin down and hereโs why: Gemini wants to take in as much information as possible. To live multiple lives in the span of one. And so how do we take the enormity of anything and everything that this world has to offer and place it into one moodboard? This felt like a tall order to me, but I figured I had a year to figure it out.
What I didnโt know then is that for each season, image curation became much more intuitive as time went on. With the astrological symbols now deeply woven into my mental wiring, I trusted myself to simply start saving imagery that felt right. And what I found was that typography, tone, and color began to reveal itself for each sign quite obviously the further I dug in.
With Gemini, the first thing I noticed was how much inspiration I pulled that featured letters. Ruled by Mercury โ the messenger of the gods โ this came as no surprise to me. Both Gemini and Mercury love reading and writing and any kind of wording. And while I obviously touched on typography for each signโs moodboard, Gemini was the one that took the cake. There were pictures of people and landscapes and patterns, too. But mostly, it was just letters. Graphic design at its best.
When I dug deeper, I didnโt find any true typographical pattern for Gemini. But that kind of makes sense, too. Gemini wants to take in everything and so in a way, itโs open to anything. But I will say that with its finger on the pulse, this particular energy is probably the most in tune with whatever is currently on trend. In fact, this is also the one sign where I toss all branding advice out the window and say: change up your branding more often. Not like every single month. But every few years or so, let your brand evolve quickly, just like you.
So youโll see a little bit of everything as far as fonts are concerned. But I also got metaphorical, with a few of the examples feeling more busy or using a variety of letter forms and sizes. Truly, I think you can do pretty much anything here.
The next thing I noticed taking shape was color. Gemini is an air sign, born in spring, when some of the prettiest flowers begin to blossom. But instead of going with an airy blue โ which you absolutely could do โ I went periwinkle slash lilac. To me, this combines Geminiโs airy nature with whatโs happening down on the ground. Yellow and pink dig into blooms. But if Iโm being honest, that buttery yellow room with periwinkle trim was the first image that locked in the moodboard. So I knew I wanted to build everything around that. It just feels so light and airy, but grounded all the same thanks to those pops of green.
For imagery, youโll notice a few literal ideas like seasonal flowers and anything related to information (like reading, writing, learning, etc.), but really, the sky is the limit. Gemini in general is really conducive to illustration and icons and anything that helps convey a message that much quicker. So use your words and use your imagery to your advantage.
Keep it fresh. Keep it fun. Keep it on point.
And thatโs it for Gemini season and this series as a whole! Iโm grateful that the exploration of each Zodiac sign through visuals allowed me to see things from a fresh perspective. Because even though I understand each sign very well at this point, I never ever want to stop learning. And neither does Gemini.
What a fitting endpoint. ;)
Iโve loved this series and Iโm happy to see Gemini as this last part (I am Gemini through and through with Gemini Rising and Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Chiron all in Gemini haha). Itโs indeed very fitting! I see parallels to my own studioโs branding which I have redone about two years ago. If youโd like to, have a look at my color palette and how I interpret it here: https://www.instagram.com/p/C29rPF3Mg_o/ So yes, the green and violet are spot on. Typography plays a HUGE part tooโfor my own brand, but for my clients as well. Iโm actually currently diving deeper into type design. With the rebrand, I wanted something different for the word mark, and when I showed the first draft to a designer friend, he told me: โStunner! Does not remind me of anything similar.โ Another designer friend said: โAwesome! Really beautiful, bold, elegant, quirky, cheeky and cool. Havenโt seen anything like it oftenโitโs a new direction and inspiring.โ I love how astrology basically plays into all of it ๐ค
Love the energy in this moodboard!
